The General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, through the International Centre on Ageing (CENIE), in collaboration with the City Council of Zamora, the Provincial Council of Zamora, the Federation of Associations of Retired and Pensioners of Zamora and other entities and institutions has launched the initiative Together we give more life to Zamora, with the support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the INTERREG V-A Programme, Spain-Portugal, POCTEP, 2014-2020, which co-finances the Programme for a long-lived society that hosts these activities.

Spain is one of the countries with the longest-living population. In 2018, people over 65 years of age represented 19.01% of the population. And, by 2050, projections raise the percentage to thresholds above 32%.

The city of Zamora is home to 15,646 people over the age of 65, representing 25.48% of the total population. And of every 100 people over the age of 65, more than 52 are over the age of 75.

In Juntos damos más vida a Zamora, 10 areas of intervention have been defined to help achieve the main objective of the initiative: to identify a model of quality of life for the elderly, both a cause and a consequence of an inclusive, economically sustainable society that is firmly committed to social rights.

Ten areas of intervention form the backbone of the project. In each of them, initiatives will be carried out which, through research, experimentation and evaluation, will allow the development of the essential protocols of action that will favour the possibility of being implemented in other places.

Because Juntos damos más vida a Zamora is a multidisciplinary initiative that aims to make Zamora a national and international benchmark in the field of knowledge of longevity and all the new opportunities it provides.

Precisely in this context, as part of the applied research The senior public in a cultural offer for all, within the Area dedicated to Culture, we have promoted, in collaboration with the Zamora Provincial Council and the Agrupación Belenista La Morana, whom we would like to thank for their support, commitment and enthusiasm, the activity BELENES DEL MUNDO (Nativity Scenes of the World).
