Economics of Longevity Study
The Economics of Longevity Study, commissioned by CENIE to Oxford Economics, with the collaboration of the University of Salamanca, consisted of analysing the socio-economic impact and value of the economics of longevity in Spain. As demographics continue to change, the 50+ cohort will play an increasingly important role in the economy. Understanding the value of longevity economics will have important implications for policy and business decision-making in Spain.
This study measures the contributions of the longevity economy through three channels: the first is an assessment of the socio-economic impact of spending by the over-50s living in Spain, the second impact channel examined was the socio-economic contributions of over-50s visitors to Spain, and finally, the study looked at the role of the over-50s in the labour market.
