The online course "Introduction to Ageing for Innovators" has reached an enrolment of more than 660 students.

Barely 3 months after the presentation of the online course "Introduction to Ageing for Innovators" by the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca in the framework of the International Centre on Ageing (CENIE), it has reached an enrolment of more than 660 students, of which 300 have already completed the course and obtained the Certificate of Completion issued by the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca itself and The National Innovation Centre for Ageing of the United Kingdom, as the course is the result of collaboration between both entities.

It is noteworthy that the completion rate of the course by students has already reached 45.32%, especially if we take into account that in a Study, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and promoted by the MOOC-Maker Cooperation Network, which is an open access international grouping formed by Higher Education Institutions and related companies, and which aims to promote research and knowledge exchange on capacity building management of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), (Massive Open Online Courses), in the Higher Education space (particularly in Latin America and the European Union), which analyses the benefits of MOOCs, as well as the problems that may arise, points out that the main objectives are to raise awareness about the high dropout rates and to come up with different models and solutions to counteract this trend. This is due to the alarmingly high dropout rates of MOOCs, which are often more than 90% of the participants.

Another aspect to highlight is the varied origin of the students, as in addition to the Spanish students, there is also a significant participation from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and in general from all the countries that share Spanish as their official language.

Soon, the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca will present the Portuguese version of the course, which will also be free of charge.

The course "Introduction to Ageing for Innovators" is an initiative of the International Centre on Ageing (CENIE) which is part of the INTERREG V-A Programme, Spain-Portugal, POCTEP, 2014-2020, of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
