IBERLONGEVA: Pioneering project in scientific knowledge and the promotion of ageing prevention

Prevent Frailty. Promote Longevity
The University of Salamanca, through the International Centre on Ageing (CENIE), is pleased to invite you to the launch event of IBERLONGEVA, a pioneering scientific and social initiative of international relevance dedicated to understanding and promoting healthy longevity.
IBERLONGEVA will study, with direct citizen participation, the factors that influence frailty and well-being in people over the age of 60. Its aim is to advance scientific knowledge while also encouraging habits and environments that support a healthier, more autonomous, and meaningful life.
This cross-border project between Spain and Portugal—driven by the University of Salamanca, the University of Vigo, and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança—is coordinated by CENIE and funded by the European Union’s Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal Programme (POCTEP 2021–2027).
The event will bring together institutional representatives, researchers, healthcare professionals, and members of the local community to share the vision of a project that seeks to transform knowledge into prevention, and prevention into a life of well-being and purpose.
Over the coming months, IBERLONGEVA will be rolled out in Zamora, Ourense, and Bragança, engaging citizens in cutting-edge research on healthy ageing and frailty prevention.
In Zamora, the project will involve the direct participation of the University School of Nursing. In Ourense, the School of Nursing, the School of Engineering, and faculty teams from the University Campus will take part; and in Bragança, the Higher Schools of Health and Education will join the initiative—forming an Iberian alliance that brings together knowledge, technology, and human commitment.
Through science, social participation, and territorial cooperation, IBERLONGEVA aims to turn longevity into an opportunity for well-being, cohesion, and shared learning—so that living longer is not just about more years, but about balance, autonomy, and meaning.
