Guadalupe Souto is an associate professor at the Department of Applied Economics of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and member of the Xarxa de Referència en Economia i Políticas Públicas (XREPP) of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Its main lines of research fit into the analysis of public spending policies and, in particular, of social spending. Since 2009 she has been part of the Spanish team of the international NTA (National Transfer Accounts) project, composed of more than 50 countries, dedicated to estimating resource flows by age in each country and analysing the interaction between demographics and the economy, in particular the effects of ageing.She has published more than 15 research papers in prestigious national and international journals such as Ecological Economics, Journal of Population Economics, International Tax and Public Finance, Journal of the Economics of Ageing, Population and Development Review or Demographic Research, among others. She has also been a researcher in different competitive projects for the financing of her research, both at national and European level, and has collaborated in studies with various public administrations (Institute of Tax Studies, European Commission, Generalitat de Catalunya, Government of Navarra).
