Fundación General CSIC launches a call for R&D&I work on longevity

The Fundación General CSIC is launching a call for tenders for R&D&I work on longevity in the demonstration phase within the framework of the Programme for a Long-lived Society (PSL) project, aimed at public or private, non-profit organisations that carry out R&D activities defined in their statutes as their main activity and generate scientific or technological knowledge.

The R&D&I work to be contracted must be projects in the demonstration phase, of an applied nature and directly related to longevity. They must be aimed at developing innovative products, processes or services to improve the quality of life of the elderly. Basic, non-demonstrative research work is not considered, nor is work that is not clearly intended to demonstrate scientific-technical feasibility.

The contracting amount for each R&D&I project will be between 10,000 and 25,000 euros, VAT included, and all of them must be carried out within the financial years 2020 and 2021.

Participation in this contracting process will be carried out telematically through the application enabled for this purpose. The deadline for submitting proposals is 22 April 2020 at 14h00.

The Programme for a Long-lived Society - PSL (0551_PSL_6_E) project is an Iberian and international collaboration developed by a Spanish-Portuguese consortium to which the Fundación General CSIC belongs, together with the Fundación General de la Universidad de Salamanca, the University of Algarve and the Directorate General of Health of Portugal.

The ageing of the population is a phenomenon that affects most European territories, particularly countries such as Spain and Portugal, especially in cross-border areas. The causes of population ageing include lower birth rates, changes in migratory movements and longer life expectancy. In the context of the latter factor, longevity, LSP aims to promote, accelerate and implement scientific research and discoveries, technological advances, behavioural practices and the renewal of social norms so that the lives of long-lived people will not only be healthy and rewarding for them, but also for the society to which they belong.

PSL is part of the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Cooperation Programme (POCTEP) 2014-2020, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which aims to promote interregional cooperation between the two countries on their borderline in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens.
