Views on Longevity

Research and medical advancements have allowed life expectancy to continue growing in developed countries, where the prospect of new longevity presents a significant challenge—economically, socially, individually, and collectively. In this scenario, where we are living longer and in better health, questions and challenges arise that must be addressed with a positive and hopeful perspective.

Healthy aging—physically, mentally, and emotionally—is, or should be, the primary goal for both governments and individuals. Every day, new scientific evidence emerges about what we can do to live better, along with new treatments to combat age-related diseases. In addition to this, major public and private investments are being made in research aimed at slowing or even reversing aging—one of humanity’s biggest current topics.

Economically, public healthcare systems and pensions are the key issues that governments must address in this new landscape. On an individual level, managing personal finances to ensure a good quality of life over more years is also an important consideration.

For all these reasons, the goal of this blog is to encourage analysis and reflection, as well as to inform and provide practical advice on everything related to the extension of life expectancy. We want “Views on Longevity” to be diverse and inclusive—embracing economic, psychological, demographic, sociological, and health-related aspects. Because the new longevity directly or indirectly affects every sphere of our lives.
